CUT A THON to BENEFIT MISSING CHILDREN

(Dagsboro, DE) – A cut-a-thon to raise money for the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) will be held on May 23, 2012 from 10 am to 8 pm at Delaware Learning Institute of Cosmetology, 32448 Royal Blvd Suite A, Dagsboro, DE 19939.

In observance of National Missing Children’s Day, Delaware Learning Institutue of Cosmetology will join with other cosmetoglogy schools nationwide to raise money for NCMEC. Each haircut will cost $9.00 ($11.00 with blow dry) and entire proceeds from haircuts will be donated to NCMEC.

Delaware Learning Institute of Cosmetology is participating in this national cut-a-thon because we believe that volunteerism and community service are important to the success and growth of our students and to the well-being of our community.

Research has found that more than 2,000 children are reported missing every day and that one in five girls and one in ten boys will be sexually exploited by the time they reach adulthood. In the face of these potential risks, it is more important than ever that parents and guardians teach children how to stay safer. NCMEC is an important resource in helping with this mission.

NCMEC was founded in 1984 and since then has assisted law enforcement in the recovery of more than 157,720 missing children. The organization’s CyberTipline has handled more than 816,800 reports of child sexual exploitation.
